EVENTS + MEETINGS

Pediatricians –  HMSA Payment Transformation Meeting – First Quarter 2019 Check-in was held on Tuesday, April 23 at the EHI IPA office. Attached is a copy of the presentation. EHI staff prepared spreadsheets with information on performance to date and what needs to be done to maximize performance and reimbursement. Please contact Joyce at jvitales@ehiipa.com (808-797-3113) if you have not received your spreadsheet. Please also contact us if you would like to schedule an individual meeting in your office to review and discuss. In addition, Tiffany Pa of HMSA has coding cheat sheets available. Please contact us if you would like a copy. Members attending gave feedback regarding how the COREO system contributes to physician and office burnout. The IPA will share this feedback and encouraged Tiffany Pa, our provider services representative, to do the same.

IPA Super Huddle – Tuesday, May 14, Noon   Members and staff are invited to attend our quarterly Super Huddle meeting. The meeting will include a session on motivational interviewing techniques, information on Medicare’s Clinical Decision Support requirements for radiology procedures and Hilo Medical Center updates including Ornish Program outcomes. OSHA Training Workshop   Alan Yamamoto, HIOSH Consultation Project Manager, will offer a two-hour OSHA workshop for East Hawaii IPA Members on OSHA/HIOSH requirements on Tuesday, June 4, location TBD. THIS IS MEANT FOR CLINIC LEADERS WHO WILL CONDUCT THE TRAINING IN EACH OFFICE. THIS DOES NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENT FOR OSHA/HIOSH TRAINING OF ALL STAFF IN EACH OFFICE. Mr. Yamamoto is willing to schedule individual office visits after the presentation to help assess your compliance. If you are interested in attending the WORKSHOP, please contact Joyce at jvitales@ehiipa.com. EHI IPA Relay For Life Team   EHI is joining the Relay For Life efforts in raising money for cancer awareness and research!   • HIPAA Online Training – EHI IPA offers online training as a membership benefit for $20 per person. The certification received after successful completion is effective for 2 years.   • Healthcare Source HR Screening Tool Available for Members – EHI offers member offices use of a complimentary employee screening tool. The tool helps assess whether staff you are thinking of hiring are the right fit for your office! The tool rates candidates numerically by job performance, retention and service excellence. It also customizes key questions for face-to-face interviews. This program has been used successfully by hundreds of healthcare organizations. Candidates are sent a link to the assessment with results forwarded to a designated office email address.   • Mountain-Pacific Quality Health CMS Million Hearts Hypertension Control Challenge – Applications are now open to practices who want to be recognized in the CMS 2019 Million Hearts Control Challenge.   • Individual Nutrition Counseling Referral for Hui Mālama Ola Nā ʻŌiwi (HMONO) – Refer your patients to nutrition counseling with Stacy Haumea at HMONO using their referral form (here). Under the “Referred to” section, select HMONO Family Medicine Clinic.

  • Walk with a Doc – Lili‘uokalani Gardens Park – Dr. Craig Kadooka – WWAD will be celebrating its 5th year of weekly walks in May! Every Sunday, WWAD meets at the park across the street from Hilo Bay Café. Come down to hear a short healthcare talk at 8:00 AM, followed by stretching, then off you go. Anyone is welcome to participate.

  • Mountain-Pacific Quality Health: New Patient Tool for Heart Health – Check the MPQH website for their heart health calendar. These are free for patients and can start anytime of the year and includes weight logs and health tips. These offer a fun and easy way for patients to monitor their weight.
