Hilo Medical Center-East Hawaii IPA Mixer   Hosted by the IPA, the Mixer was held this past Tuesday at ‘Imiloa Astronomy Center. 35 people were in attendance to hear a talk by Dr. Barbara Spivak on communication between physicians and hospitalists. Dr. Jon Martell presented a video clip about “Backline,” a secure text messaging system being reviewed by HMC and invited EHI IPA providers to consider using this system to communicate with hospitalists about their patients. IPA Member Survey and Member Retreat   Last night the IPA held its 2017 member strategic planning retreat. 24 members were in attendance. Attached is a copy of the agenda and slides that were presented. The facilitator and three resource experts (bios attached) were present to discuss future possibilities and ideas for strengthening the IPA and its membership. Participants formed 3 groups to discuss specific ideas for coalescing/consolidating members, organizing members into tiers with certain benefits and commitments and supporting newer, growing practices. A summary of the discussion will be prepared and shared. The group decided that it would be beneficial to continue meeting on a regular basis in smaller groups to further define, operationalize and establish plans. More to follow.
