Payment Transformation Global Payment Rates – UPDATE EHI asked HMSA to schedule a webinar to explain the new proposed rate methodology directly to providers. It is likely that the IPA will exercise the option as a group to delay implementation of the new rates until Fall 2018 as HMSA is reluctant to schedule a webinar any time soon. In the meantime, Dr. Kevin Kurohara, President, Dr. Lynda Dolan, VP and Susan Mochizuki, Administrator are meeting with Dr. Mark Mugiishi and Jayme Pu’u next week to ask for additional PMPM (above what HMSA is offering), FFS payment for in-office procedures and additional funding for each new patient visit. We will update you next week regarding the outcome of our HMSA meetings.
Episodic Care Management Services for Payment Transformation Providers The EHI Care Management Team is offering services for adult patients admitted to Hilo Medical Center and attributed to HMSA Payment Transformation PCPs. We ask that providers who are interested in this service sign the attached “compact” agreement outlining services and responsibilities. Annual Meeting & Election – Wednesday, April 25, 2018 – 5:30-7:30 PMThe election will be held at ‘Imiloa to elect Board members and discuss the future of the IPA. Voting will occur at the meeting. He will talk about how Optum can help the IPA become a more closely integrated entity.

Discounted HIPAA Training AvailableEHI offers HIPAA training to all offices at a discounted rate. HIPAA training must be renewed either annually or every two years (depending on type of training). Healthcare Source HR Screening Tool Available for Members EHI offers member offices use of a complimentary employee screening tool. The tool helps assess whether staff you are thinking of hiring are the right fit for your office! The tool rates candidates numerically by job performance, retention and service excellence. It also customizes key questions for face-to-face interviews. This program has been used successfully by hundreds of healthcare organizations. Candidates are sent a link to the assessment with results forwarded to a designated office email address. UnitedHealthcare Accountable Care Program EHI will be working with offices to ensure that UHC patients who are discharged from the hospital or are seen in the ER receive follow-up within 7 days. In addition, the IPA will work with offices to confirm that high risk, high cost UnitedHealthcare (UHC) patients are seen every 90 days. UHC will give the IPA with some funding to pay for staff help. SBIRT Stands for Screening, Brief Intervention & Referral to Treatment for alcohol & substance abuse. EHI received a two-year grant from the State Department of Health to help offices do SBIRT screenings by having patients complete a brief survey.
