HMSA PAYMENT TRANSFORMATION

Review of Chronic Conditions (RCC) Measures   HMSA has decided to extend the RCC measurement period to December 31, 2019, and the supplemental data deadline to January 31, 2020. HMSA is giving this extension because RCC did not launch in Coreo until March 2019.

QUALITY PERFORMANCE

*NEW* Blood Pressure Observation   Next week, Kelley O’Leary will be coming to your offices for a BRIEF OBSERVATION (15-20 minutes) for workflow & equipment use when performing blood pressure checks on patients. There will be no questions and no interaction needed for her observation. If you would like Kelley to come at a specific time next week, please fill out the attached form; otherwise, she will drop into your office when she is available. First come, first served.

Need a Doc Campaign + Providers Accepting HMSA Patients   If your office is accepting NEW HMSA PATIENTS, please let us know so we can help patients find a primary care provider. EHI’s “Need a Doc” campaign will help place patients with current member practices. MEETINGS

OSHA Training Templates & Consultation  Alan Yamamoto, HIOSH Consultation Project Manager, offered a two-hour OSHA workshop for EHI IPA members last week. If you are interested in receiving templates or requesting a 1:1 with Alan, please contact Jo at jvitales@ehiipa.com. If there is enough interest, we will ask Alan to return to Hilo.

Screening, Brief Intervention & Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) Grant Update   The IPA is encouraging as many offices as possible to participate in the SBIRT program which screens patients for alcohol and drug abuse problems. Our goal is to create a sustainable practice of screening, doing brief intervention and referring to specialty resources as needed. The IPA is launching an eScreens as a way for patients to complete the screening survey using tablets. Tablets, software and training will be provided free of charge to practices who participate in addition to monetary incentives. Providers and staff are invited to attend an informational meeting on Friday, June 14, 12:00 PM. Flyer attached.

Opioid Epidemic & Medication Assisted Treatment Options – Wednesday, June 19, 5:30 PM    Hear Dr. James Westphal, Beacon Health Options, speak on the opioid epidemic and Medication Assisted Treatment Options. Meeting will be held at the EHI IPA office. Approved for 1.5 AAFP Prescribed credits. Flyer attached.

23rd Annual East Hawaii IPA Healthcare Symposium – “Advancing Care for Patients, Providers & Communities” August 16-18, 2019, at the Fairmont Orchid in Waikoloa. *NEW* Pau Hana Mixer   The first “kick off” Pau Hana Mixer at the Hilo Yacht Club this past Friday was a big success with 26 people in attendance. Graduating Hilo Medical Center residents were recognized at the event. View pictures here. The IPA’s next Pau Hana will be in September.

EHI IPA Relay For Life Team Participation – Saturday, July 20 @ 4pm-midnight   Please help us reach our goal of raising $2,000 for cancer awareness and research. Walk with a Doc – Lili‘uokalani Gardens Park – Dr. Craig Kadooka – Every Sunday, WWAD meets at the park across the street from Hilo Bay Café. Walkers gather at 8:00AM to hear a short healthcare talk, followed by stretching and then walking at your own pace. Anyone is welcome to participate.

  • Healthcare Source HR Screening Tool Available for Members – EHI offers member offices use of a complimentary employee screening tool. The tool helps assess whether potential new hires are the right fit for your office! The tool rates candidates numerically by job performance, retention and service excellence. It also customizes key questions for face-to-face interviews. This program has been used successfully by hundreds of healthcare organizations. Candidates are sent a link to the assessment with results forwarded to a designated office email address.   • Mountain-Pacific Quality Health CMS Million Hearts Hypertension Control Challenge – Applications are now open to practices who want to be recognized in the CMS 2019 Million Hearts Control Challenge.
