Behavioral Health Telepsychiatry – FINAL CALL FOR INPUT!   We are building an integrated model of Behavioral Health and would like your feedback on Behavioral Telehealth (i.e., telepsychiatry). We are putting together a model to provide both psychiatric and therapy services for both children and adults. Please complete the attached survey to help us better understand what you believe your needs are relating to using Behavioral Telehealth.

Diabetes Education for Health Professionals – Wednesday, April 10, 1:30-3:00 PM   Dr. Rich Jackson and Ms. Elaine Sullivan will present two diabetes workshops in Hilo on Wednesday, April 10. Both sessions are free and at the UH-Mānoa Komohana Research & Extension Center, 875 Komohana St., Room D-202, and online via Zoom. The session for health professionals will be at 1:30-3:00 p.m. (flyer attached), and the session for patients/public from 3:30-5:00 p.m. (flyer attached). Please share this information with your colleagues and patients/clients—see attached flyers.

EVENTS + MEETINGS

HMSA Payment Transformation Meeting – Adults – Tuesday, April 9 – 12:00 PM – 1:15 PM   Purpose is to review 2019 engagement and quality performance measures for individual providers and the IPA; view progress to date & answer questions. SPACE LIMITED at EHI IPA Office. Must RSVP by deadline on Friday, April 5, 2019. RSVP attached.

General Membership Meeting and Election RSVP   EHI will hold its General Membership Meeting and Election of new Board members on Wednesday, April 17, 2019. Candidates will compete for four open positions. Please RSVP if you can attend or if you are not able to attend and would like an absentee ballot (Registration attached). Physician Aid in Dying Workshop Rescheduled – April 24, 5:30 PM   The Physician Aid in Dying Workshop has been rescheduled to Wednesday, April 24. Approved for 1.5 AAFP prescribed credits. If you are interested in attending, please contact Joyce at jvitales@ehiipa.com.

OSHA Training Workshop   Alan Yamamoto, HIOSH Consultation Project Manager, will offer a two-hour OSHA workshops for East Hawaii IPA Members on OSHA/HIOSH requirements on Tuesday, May 7 (date change), location TBD. THIS IS MEANT FOR CLINIC LEADERS WHO WILL CONDUCT THE TRAINING IN EACH OFFICE. THIS DOES NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENT FOR OSHA/HIOSH TRAINING OF ALL STAFF IN EACH OFFICE. Mr. Yamamoto is willing to schedule individual office visits after the presentation to help assess your compliance. If you are interested in attending the WORKSHOP, please contact Joyce at jvitales@ehiipa.com.   • HIPAA Online Training – EHI IPA offers online training as a membership benefit for $20 per person. The certification received after successful completion is effective for 2 years.   • Healthcare Source HR Screening Tool Available for Members – EHI offers member offices use of a complimentary employee screening tool. The tool helps assess whether staff you are thinking of hiring are the right fit for your office! The tool rates candidates numerically by job performance, retention and service excellence. It also customizes key questions for face-to-face interviews. This program has been used successfully by hundreds of healthcare organizations. Candidates are sent a link to the assessment with results forwarded to a designated office email address.   • Individual Nutrition Counseling Referral for Hui Mālama Ola Nā ʻŌiwi (HMONO) – Refer your patients to nutrition counseling with Stacy Haumea at HMONO using their referral form (here). Under the “Referred to” section, select HMONO Family Medicine Clinic.

  • Walk with a Doc – Lili‘uokalani Gardens Park – Dr. Craig Kadooka – WWAD will be celebrating their 5th year of weekly walks in May! Every Sunday, WWAD meets at the park across the street from Hilo Bay Café. Come down to hear a safety issue on walking or a topic on staying healthy at 8:00 AM, then a little stretching, and off you go. Everyone is welcome to come!

  • Mountain-Pacific Quality Health: New Patient Tool for Heart Health – Check the MPQH website for their heart health calendar. These are free for patients and can start anytime of the year and includes weight logs and health tips. These offer a fun and easy way for patients to monitor their weight. A calendar example (scroll to the bottom for the example) and order form can be found here. Because it is free, there is a limit of 20 calendars per facility.
