National Take-Back Initiative (NTBI) Saturday, April 28, 10:00 AM-2:00 PMTell your patients to turn in their unused or expired prescription medications for safe, anonymous disposal. Collection will take place on the Big Island at Ka Waena Lapa‘au Medical Complex (upper parking lot at the corner of Ponahawai/Komohana streets) or Hawaii Police Department in Kona (parking lot). MIPS/MACRA Workshop (non-CPC+ Providers) Friday, April 20, 12:30 PMCathy Nelson from Mountain-Pacific Quality Health will be reporting on provider access to preliminary MIPS final score report, using the CMS look-up tool to determine your 2018 MIPS eligibility, and what kind of help is out there for CMS quality reporting programs. Payment Transformation Global Payment Rates – UPDATE EHI met with Dr. Mark Mugiishi and Jayme Pu‘u of HMSA Provider Services on Monday. Both indicated they would be supportive of additional funding for EHI physicians provided such funding would reward high performing offices, strengthen the IPA as an entity and improve access for HMSA patients. Rather than giving a blanket PMPM increase to all providers, they committed to working together to craft a more specific funding plan to further these goals. It is likely that the IPA will exercise the option as a group to delay implementation of the new rates until Fall 2018 to provide enough time to understand the new model. Episodic Care Management Services for Payment Transformation Providers The EHI Care Management Team is offering services for adult patients admitted to Hilo Medical Center and attributed to HMSA Payment Transformation PCPs. We ask that providers who are interested in this service sign the attached “compact” agreement outlining services and responsibilities. Annual Meeting & Election – Wednesday, April 25, 2018 – 5:30-7:30 PMThe election will be held at ‘Imiloa to elect Board members and discuss the future of the IPA. Voting will occur at the meeting. Jeff Beal, VP Corporate Development, Optum (bio attached), will be our guest speaker. He will talk about how Optum can help the IPA become a more closely integrated entity. 22nd Annual East Hawaii IPA Healthcare Symposium – August 17-19, 2018 – Fairmont Orchid Hotel This year’s theme is “Advancing Wellness for Patients, Providers and Organizations.” Please see attached for the latest schedule of events, topics & speakers. EHI IPA members receive a discounted rate of $75 which includes AAFP CMEs, all sessions, trade show attendance, pau hana event and two breakfasts. Please register early (flyer attached).
SBIRTStands for Screening, Brief Intervention & Referral to Treatment for alcohol & substance abuse. All offices are invited to participate. Offices who collect surveys from their patients will receive a $2500 honorarium. Providers and staff will receive an additional $50 per person to attend a 2-hour workshop (regardless of participation in the program). Workshops will be held on Tuesday, May 1 and Tuesday, May 25. Advanced Healthcare Directive – IMPORTANT UPDATE: Patients need to fill out the most current form. The easiest way to tell if the AHCD is the most current form is to see if it asks for the individual’s Date of Birth on the first line; and a cell phone for the Health Care Power of Attorney.USE UPDATED FORM ATTACHED.
