Medical Group and Management Services Organization (MSO) LLC Formation   37 providers attended a meeting at the East Hawaii IPA office on October 17 to learn about EHI IPA’s plans for supporting the formation of a medical group and an MSO (management services organization) LLC.  There were a number of questions/issues raised at the meeting. Please see attached for the questions and explanations by Dr. Scott Kronlund, Chief Medical Director. The Board is inviting interested members to sign a non-binding letter of intent (LOI) to participate which includes a non-refundable $2000 deposit to help cover IPA expenses for facilitating formation of the group. Those who sign the LOI will have the opportunity to define how the group will be governed and operated. The deadline for signing the LOI is Friday, November 2, 2018, at 5:00 PM. If you would like a copy of the presentation slides and LOI, please contact Jane at jbontuyan@ehiipa.com (808-797-3113). If you would like to know more about these plans, please contact Dr. Scott Kronlund at skronlund@ehiipa.com or Susan Mochizuki at smochizuki@ehiipa.com.

Ask the EHI Pharmacist – Influenza Immunization:

  • Over 80% of this year’s vaccine supply is quadrivalent with one more B flu strain than trivalent.

  • FluMist Quadrivalent intranasal vaccine is back this year. The CDC considers FluMist as an option when healthy nonpregnant patients ages 2 through 49 refuse an injection. However, American Academy of Pediatrics recommends injectable flu vaccines for kids and save FluMist only for those who wouldn’t be vaccinated otherwise.
