BOARD DECISIONS:

The Board approved moving forward with strengthening the IPA by enhancing support services including managing complex patients, setting up a diabetes education program, providing coding review and assistance, giving in-office practice improvement consultation, and many other services to make the primary care offices stronger.  This decision means the IPA will be moving to a new space to be announced soon.  HMSA has committed to providing the IPA with monies to fund this effort.

In addition, the Board decided to allocate $150,000 to give technical and training support to practices signing on to eClinical Works EHR system.  The IPA is currently negotiating an optimal contract with e-CW on behalf of the members.

Donna Mills, former CEO of Sharp Rees Stealy Health Systems and CAPG Board member will be helping the IPA work on strategies for working with other Hawaii health systems and strengthening the IPA.  Donna lives on Hawai‘i Island and has a lot of experience working with IPAs.

The Board passed a resolution to revise the bylaws so that the number of Board members representing primary care and specialists reflect the current composition of the membership.
