eClinical Works Software We held a Q & A session yesterday with over 20 staff and physicians in attendance in person and on the webinar. If you have any questions about the agreement or would like a demo, please contact Melissa Andrade (melissa.andrade@eclinicalworks.com). If you need one-on-one help with deciding on billing and other options, our consultant, Bonni Brownlee, can help. In addition, we have an IT specialist who can visit your office to review hardware and internet connectivity requirements. Please contact Jane if you would like to schedule these in-office consultations. The IPA Board approved providing this support to eCW offices. As we move toward implementation, we will also meet to decide on common templates. The IPA will also support smooth interfacing between the labs and HRA.

HMSA PO Collaborative SummaryOn April 6, HMSA held a meeting of key representatives from Physician Organizations around the state. EHI was represented by Dr. Kevin Kurohara, Dr. Lynda Dolan and Susan Mochizuki. Discussion focused on getting feedback and ideas for HMSA’s 2018 primary care payment model. HMSA is considering a model similar to the one currently in place for the 12 EHI IPA Model Office physicians. Attached is a summary of the minutes.
Hilo Medical Center EHR Training – Tuesday, May 16, Noon EHI IPA providers have access to Hilo Medical Center (HMC) records for their attributed patients. HMC will show providers how to access their patients’ records and reports. Information on PCPs’ patients admitted to HMC, Queens, Hawaii Pacific Health facilities and Castle Medical Center are also available via the Hawaii Health Information Exchange (HHIE). The session will include training on how to access HHIE records. Flyer/announcement will be sent soon.
Hilo Medical Center Emergency Room and Hospital Discharge Alerts PCPs should be receiving daily FAXES from HMC alerting you of your patients who are in the Emergency Room or are discharged from Hilo Medical Center. If you are not receiving these daily faxes, please contact Joyce at jvitales@ehiipa.com. Natasha Kenui, Patient Navigator, HMSA, has been teaming up with us to double check that HMSA Payment Transformation providers are receiving daily alerts about their HMSA patients who are in the HMC ER. Natasha is also willing to help HMSA patients confirm their follow-up appointments with their PCPs.
New Staff Michael Kurohara, IT Specialist, joined the EHI team. Michael will be assisting with Payment Transformation quality improvement and Total Cost of Care reporting. In addition, Michael is in training to be our “boots on ground” expert for eClinical Works.
Patient Navigators IPA is interested in recruiting patient navigators to work closely with our Licensed RN Case Managers. We are looking for professional, organized, computer-literate individuals with initiative and good follow-up skills who are passionate about making a difference in patients’ lives. PATIENT SELF-MANAGEMENT TRAINING TO MEET YOUR CPC+ REQUIRMENT 4.2Lay Leader training for Diabetes Self-Management is sponsored by the Hawaii County Office on Aging, and provided to enrolled participants free of charge. Certification is based on the Stanford School of Medicine Diabetes Self-Management curriculum. Attendance to all sessions required. Lay Leaders will be trained to introduce topics and tools to encourage patients in 1) managing their health and 2) building confidence in their ability to maintain active, and fulfilling lives.
